Meet JoeJoe.

About 2 weeks ago my partner was coming home from work when he noticed in the table drain was a baby kangaroo. Poor little baby was there all abandoned with no mummy Roo in site not even any accidents which sadly happens often on these rural roads. He wrapped him up as the poor thing was freezing and brought him home. After doing a little research it claims that joeys be kept up to 30 degrees in their pouches as you could imagine we are just heading into winter and these nights are getting cold. The poor little thing was fighting death.
After arriving home and seeing my new little friend I couldn’t help but feel a little heart broken. This little baby joey was in shock and barely moved or even stood. Trying our hardest to keep him warm he was propped up in his pouch by the fire where he slept all night without a peep! You could imagine by morning with no noice or movement I was assuming the worse. Upon awaking him things looked awful. He was hardly breathing and still refused to stand but at the same time seemed like he had just needed a big nap, probably from being in the wild so small and not being able to sleep.
From that morning we got on to the right formula and began syringe force feeding him. And this is when he received his name JoeJoe. Little JoeJoe was now sleeping in his pouch most hours and waking up every time he needed toilet and food. He was really coming to life!

JoeJoe was coming to life so much so that he even gets bad attitudes. My long hair chihuahua is golden in colour and probably resembles a fox and instinct kicked in and he does not like her. My shitzu he doesn’t seem to kick so much of a stink over. One morning as every morning my puppy baby’s have to say good morning and want cuddles but little baby roos also want food so get in the way and you make for one feisty little boy. Unfortunately my chihuahua was first in the firing line and as he threw himself round in a fit of rage, he grabs her my the face! Now he has one little twig arm either side of her face and these 2 are now very close looking each other in the face all the while he is hissing like it’s scary. I can still see my chihuahuas face in my head as you may know chihuahuas have large googly eyes and on this occasion she looked like the woman who can pop her eyeballs out her head!
2 weeks on and he is doing great! He loves to sit in front of the fire and he is getting bigger! And also more tolerant of the other baby’s in the house but not too much as he is the smallest baby.

Have you ever rescued an animal?
Bree xx
